Hazard Assessment: Tested with dielectric hat and cap brackets and class B helments to 10 cal/cm2. tests are conducted independently, by a Canadian utility with access to controlled test procedure. the Arc Flash hazard is not specially addressed by any current standard. ASTM F-18 has voted t consider eye and face protection in addition at arc and flame resistant clothing.


Applications: ArcShield is used in association with dielectric head protection and accessories to provide protection from the hazards of arc flash. Arc flash is a common hazard in electric utility operations.


Helmets & Accessory Compatibility: Tests have been conduted with PMC Model HB2 HD dielectric hat brackets and CB2HD cap brackets, associated with a Class B hard hat. Dielectric hard cap or hats and accessories must be used in arc flash exposures. Other tests have been conducted with arc hoods and rain hood designed for arc flash protection.


Competitive Advantage: ArcShield carries the highest cal/cm^2 protection in association with PCM dielectric hat and cap accessories. Cal/cm^2 is the formula used for heat exposure. The PMC rating of 10 exceeds other avaiabale products by nearly triple and is less than one half the cost.
