NEPA's Tips

NEPA's Tips

The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA ®) and Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) together established the  regulation and standard with the hope of creating a practical safe working environment for anyone who could face the hazards of electricity in the workplace.

NFPA 70E® is the standard put forth by NFPA® and accepted by OSHA. The standard was developed to address electrical safety requirements for workers who could be exposed to electrical hazards as they provide necessary services such as installing, operating or maintaining electrical equipment.

The requirement that is designed in the standard are intended to be adopted by employers or agencies that desire to protect against electrical accidents.

System design and installation is of great importance because they can determine the possible electrical hazards of the environment. NFPE 70E® does not provide installation requirements, thus you will not find design information in the standard. If you require such information please refer to NFPA 70® National Electric Code (NEC®).
